Adam Purcell
NATIONAL YOUTH AND YOUNG ADULTS TEAM LEADER
Adam, together with his wife, Mel, leads the National Youth & Young Adults Ministry Team for The Salvation Army in Australia. He has been involved in various youth and young adults roles while serving in ministry for over 20 years. Adam has also ministered and lead in organisations such as Red Frogs and Youth Alive.
Adam has a great desire to see young people encounter the gospel and see it bring transformation in their lives. He is a gifted communicator and aims to bring fresh revelation of God's words into people's lives in a relevant and practical way.
Adam and Mel have three kids, Bella, Sonny and Carter.
Adam has recently completed the Arrow Coaching Mastery Course.
Chelsea Wilson
CORPS OFFICER, ROCKINGHAM CORPS, WA
Chelsea Wilson is an officer in The Salvation Army, and she has served alongside her husband in the Rockingham community for the past 12 years. With a background of nursing, as well as a Graduate Diploma of Theology, Chelsea is passionate about coming alongside people to support them and their families in a holistic way. She has a heart for vulnerable people and helps others to know the hope and love of God that she has experienced.
Chelsea is also passionate about the wider Church being unified and working together, and she demonstrates this through her involvement with other local ministers, YouthCARE and local schools.
Chelsea has been married to Darrell for 22 years and has three teenage children who she loves to champion and see thrive in the areas they love.
Chelsea has recently completely Arrow Leadership and is committed to always learning new things.
Darrell Wilson
CORPS OFFICER, ROCKINGHAM CORPS, WA
Darrell is an officer, co-leading The Salvation Army in Rockingham with his wife, Chelsea, since 2011. During this time, he has embedded his life in the community he serves, visiting the gym at least twice a year and raising his three children. He has a passion for serving people who find themselves in hardship, vulnerable and marginalised by the injustices in society.
Darrell’s reason for becoming a coach is to further influence disciples of Jesus to live out their faith in the world.
Darrell has a Bachelor of Music (Jazz performance), Bachelor of Ministry, Certificate of Ministry (International), Cert IV in Youth Work, is a graduate from The Salvation Army ‘Transform’ Leadership Program and has completed the Arrow Coaching Mastery Course.
Erica Jones
FIRST FIVE YEARS OF OFFICERSHIP & AUX-LT DEVELOPMENT COORDINATOR
Having served as a Salvo officer for the past 18 years, Erica has led several Salvation Army corps across Australia, been the Area Officer for the Northern Territory and been part of the National Youth & Young Adults Team. Erica’s current appointment is the First Five Years and Aux-Lt Coordinator. In 2023 Erica immersed herself in the development of discipleship curriculum heavily based on Redemptive Design and teaching in ministry design and innovation.
Erica is passionate about seeing people discover their purpose and passion in God’s story, and she believes that discovery of one’s Kingdom identity, combined with a person’s unique God-given purpose, leads to significant disruption of the status quo and Christ’s redemptive change in the world.
Erica loves spending time with her family, which includes her husband Peter, four children and a couple of son-in-laws. She also loves walking and anything that involves the beach.
Erica has a Post GradDip in Theology, a Master's in Leadership, a Deakin MBA and has completed the Arrow Coaching Mastery Course.
James Gallagher
NATIONAL YOUTH AND YOUNG ADULTS RESOURCE COORDINATOR
James is from Canberra and loves everything outdoors. On any given weekend you will find him hiking, kayaking or mountain biking. James is also the proud owner of a mischievous cavoodle named Chino.
James has worked in a variety of settings with young people including in the child protection system, as a youth pastor and in outdoor education. James is passionate about helping young people reach their potential by promoting fun, safe and accepting communities. James’ current role is resource coordinator for the Youth and Young Adults Team.
James became a coach in order to help leaders better support young people by helping them unlock their leadership potential.
James has a Diploma in Community Services, has completed the Arrow Coaching Mastery Course and is currently studying towards a Bachelor of Youth Work.
Lauren Luiker
NATIONAL YOUTH AND YOUNG ADULTS TEAM MEMBER - NSW/ACT
Lauren currently works as a part of the Salvos Youth and Young Adults Ministry Team based in Sydney. Lauren is married to Paul and equally loves netball, great bed linen and Korean BBQ.
Prior to commencing her current role, Lauren has worked in higher education and in a variety of ministry roles with a strong focus on youth, young adults and community development. Her experiences have supported her passion for creating intentional places of belonging which are empathetic to generational trends and needs.
Lauren wants to empower young leaders to be effective and focused with their Kingdom goals.
Lauren has done the Arrow 23 Emerging Leaders cohort, has a Bachelor of Theology, has completed the Arrow Coaching Mastery Course and is currently working towards a Masters in Christian Leadership.
Leisa Humbley
NATIONAL YOUTH AND YOUNG ADULTS TEAM MEMBER - QLD
Leisa is a proud mum of two young adults and a fox-terrier fur baby. She loves crafts and watching movies, especially crime and mystery. She is good at problem-solving.
Her current role with the Salvos is Brisbane-based serving in the Youth and Young Adults Ministry Team for Qld. As an officer of 10 years, she has also served as a corps officer, chaplain and in various ministries for Mission Support.
Leisa is passionate about discipleship and loves sharing life with other Jesus followers. She became a coach so that she can competently empower people in discovering the abundant life God has planned for them. Specifically, Leisa aims to help young adults unlock their God-given potential (and abilities) to lead in areas of Christian ministry.
Leisa has a Diploma of Financial Services, Bachelor of Theology and has recently completed a Graduate Certificate in Business Administration as well as the Arrow Coaching Mastery Course.
Marenda Freind
MISSION LEADER, ELLENBROOK MISSION CENTRE, WA
Marenda is wife to Steve, and together they have two primary-aged children. Marenda enjoys playing netball, reading, early morning walks and quality time with her family and friends. Her idea of the perfect holiday is anywhere relaxing by the beach.
Marenda worked as a social worker in the child protection field for 10 years before moving into full time ministry with The Salvation Army in 2019. Along with Steve, she designed and led the 'Urban Missions Movement' 12-month immersive discipleship experience in Perth, WA. Now based in an outer satellite suburb of Perth, Marenda is co-leading a new organic faith expression of The Salvation Army in Ellenbrook, WA.
Marenda is passionate about walking alongside others wherever they are in their journey. She became a coach in order to support and encourage others in their journey of discovering God at work amongst life's demands and exploring fulfilling ways of partnering with God in their own unique contexts.
Marenda has a Bachelor of Social Work, has completed the Arrow Coaching Mastery Course and has a Graduate Certificate of Divinity.
Marj Rava
NATIONAL YOUTH AND YOUNG ADULTS TEAM MEMBER - TAS & SA/NT
Marj lives in beautiful Tasmania and is a keen basketballer, traveller and coffee drinker!
She has worked with young people for over 20 years as a youth pastor, in a variety of local council spaces, youth justice and in schools as a chaplain and youth worker. During this time, she has also managed teams and been responsible for the development and training of youth leaders.
Growing up in The Salvation Army, Marj came to recognise that she was made for something, had worth and a purpose, and that she was loved unconditionally by Jesus. She became a coach as she wants to help young emerging leaders realise their worth, passion and purpose and help them excel in life and ministry to impact the world for good.
Marj has a Bachelor of Social Work and has completed the Arrow Coaching Mastery Course.
Rosy Keane
TERRITORIAL SECRETARY FOR SPIRITUAL LIFE DEVELOPMENT
Rosy is a Melbourne-based Kiwi with a love for Jesus, spoken word and extreme hot sauce.
She has served within The Salvation Army for 17 years in the areas of discipleship, youth work, preaching, mentoring, spoken word performance and workshop facilitation, activism, social media, community building and more.
Rosy undertook the coaching course because she believes the future of the church depends on our faithful tending of the gifts God has given us. She believes coaching will be part of this revolution as people discover what God is saying and where God is already at work in their lives.
Rosy has a Diploma in Youth Work, a Diploma in Christian Leadership and has completed the Arrow Coaching Mastery Course.
Sally Stevens
CORPS OFFICER - TEAM LEADER, CANBERRA CITY CORPS, ACT
Sally and her husband, Mitch, work for the Salvos in Canberra, leading a missional community that gathers around people in recovery.
Some of her most formative years were spent in Vancouver, Canada, where she lived in an incarnational community in one of the poorest postcodes in North America. Imprinted on her heart from this experience is a passion for coming alongside vulnerable people and empowering leaders in discerning God at work in their local context.
Sally continues to live authentic to this calling as a Salvo officer today alongside her husband, three boys and two fur boys. When she's not taking life too seriously, you might find her climbing the nearest mountain!
Sally has recently completed the Arrow Coaching Mastery Course.
Sarah Walker
CORPS OFFICER - TEAM MEMBER, PARRAMATTA CORPS, NSW
Growing up on the South Coast, Sarah adores the beach and will watch or play pretty much any sport. Her current role is at Parramatta Salvos where she is serving as a corps officer (pastor). If Sarah wasn’t an officer, she would like to be a professional travel blogger/vlogger, getting paid to explore the world and make cool videos.
After more than ten years volunteering or working with youth and young adults, Sarah is passionate about young people discovering who God created them to be and how they can use their unique skills, traits and passions to partner with God in ministry. Sarah became a coach to help young people activate their potential and grow as Christ-like leaders.
Sarah has a Bachelor of Physical and Health Education and is one subject and one thesis away from completing her Master of Divinity (Theology).
